Monday, May 22nd, 2006Slovakia has been awarded the 2011 world championship, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced on Friday.
It will be the first time Slovakia staging the event. The Slovaks won their first-ever gold medal at this tournament in Sweden 2002, and have also captured silver (Russia 2000) and bronze (Finland 2003).

Monday, May 22nd, 2006Ice Hockey World Championship in 2011 will be held between April 30, 2011 and May 15, 2011 in two Slovakian biggest cities Bratislava and Kosice.
Slovakia has to build new modern Ice Hockey stadium in Bratislava which will meets the latest standards. And Kosice will need to build more accommodation units such as Hotels and pensions.
